ABOUT HOMEOWNERCOACH
HomeownerCoach was started in 2005 by John Leek. Feeling less than fulfilled at my job, I began to ask myself what would I really like to do. I started to connect the dots from a number of my previous work situations and realized that I really do enjoy teaching others what I know. I also was nearing completion of the last of dozens and dozens of my do-it-yourself projects that transformed an abandoned boarded-up building into one of the most energy-efficient and nice to live in triple-deckers in the Boston area. During the last 25 years, I have done just about everything that can be done in and on a house. From replacing rotted sills, removing load bearing walls to open up space and to installing new windows and doors; from installing super insulation and solar hot air collectors to redoing my kitchen and bathrooms. For some of my rehab projects, I have needed licensed plumbers or electricians, but when I did, I learned as much as I could from them. Other times I turned to numerous how-to books and manuals, or asked long-time, highly skilled trades people for the information I needed to guide me through a project. Looking back, there are some things I would have done differently, and mistakes I could have avoided, and projects that I could have completed in a more timely manner had I had my own personal mentor who specialized in helping do-it-yourselfer. Now, there is just such a mentor available to you - HomeownerCoach. My goals are to save you time, money and effort, to guide you through your projects with information and hands-on assistance wherever and whenever you need it, and to inspire and enable you to do more than you thought possible in maintaining or improving your home. |
